A recent appeal was made by the Vietnamese Educational Labor Union and the Central Ho Chi Minh Youth Union, to assist in organizing humanitarian activities in the flooded areas of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. Vinh University’s staff organized volunteer programs in order to help the people in the affected flooded areas. On the first day of this campaign, Vinh University’s staff collected more than 75 million VND (approximately $4,030.00 USD) which is being used for on-site support and financial aid to the different district education sections within the Vietnamese Educational Labor Union. Currently, Vinh University’s students have collected an additional 30 million VND (approximately 1,600.00 USD) for humanitarian aid. Additionally, Vinh University’s students have donated books, various learning materials and school equipment. Vinh University’s Youth Union has also sent volunteer students on the area to help people with cleaning up from the flooding. During the first three days of October 22-24, the first volunteer student groups, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Faculty came to Nghi Dong Commune, Nghi Loc District. A second group of students from the History Faculty went to the Nam Dan district and a third and forth group of students from the Biology and the Political Education Faculty’s went to the Hung Nguyen District. Three more additional groups went to Can Loc and Vu Quang districts, Ha Tinh Province to assist people in the clean-up of damage caused by the flood.
Vinh University’s faculty and students are always ready to assist in the needs of those affected by the flooding and destruction caused by this terrible typhoon.
