Within the framework of science and technology program in 2009, Vinh University organized scientific conference on “Research program on firm development in western Nghe An” on December 18, 2009.

The conference was held with the participation of different authorities and leading scientists from Nghe An Province and the Vietnamese Government. The conference was presided over and attended by Dr. Hoang Xuan Luong, Vice President of National Committee for Ethnic Affairs, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, President of Vinh University, Mr. To Hong Hai, Head of Propaganda and Training Section of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Xuan Bi, Director of Nghe An Science and Technology Department, Mr. Nguyen Tho Canh, Director of Nghe An Agriculture and Rural Development Department and leading scientists from Nghe An Province.

Lots of valuable scientific works were presented at the conference within varied fields of study such as politics, economy, society, security, national defense and natural conditions in western part of Nghe An Province. Studying the challenges and orientation of its development, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hung, Lecturer at Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries – VU, mentioned different challenges which this area has to face and how to solve the problems occurred during its development. Mr. Nguyen Tho Canh (Nghe An Agriculture and Rural Development Department) presented his work on the firm development of agriculture and rural areas in western part of Nghe An Province. Based on the economic logic, Dr. Nguyen Dang Bang (faculty of Economy, VU) carried out his research on economic potentiality in this area which is to be discovered. Dealing with the security assurance in border areas, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Van (deputy commander of Nghe An border armed Forces) stated the activities of military force to assure an unshakable development of this western part of Nghe An.
