In view of the disaster of flooding in central part of Vietnam, Vinh University mobilized its personnel and internal material resources to bring useful supports to flooding victims by organizing a series of activities. Sharing difficulties seems to be the main purpose of these activities in response to get victims out of troubles. On December 3^rd 2010, Vinh University relieved 666 students whose family was affected by the flood with an amount up to 142,200,000 VND.

Among these students, 90 are those of Chemistry Faculty (12,31%); 70 students of Law Faculty, 68 students of  Politic Education, 65 students of Civil Engineering Faculty. The rest of this number is disposed in the remaining faculties.

According to the statistics, the total value of damage caused by the flood to students’ families is up to 14 billions VND, with an average of 21,052,552 VND per family. Notably, family of eight students suffered from the flood with a damage of one hundred million VND, and many families lost nearly one hundred million VND. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Minh Hung, Vice-President, presented his compassion for the families of flooding victims and shared difficulties with students by materially supporting them so that they would get out of troubles after flooding catastrophe. He also motivated students to make their efforts to overcome difficulties.

On behalf of all supported students, Tran Van Luat, student of law, coming from Dong Ha 2 Village, Thach Long Commune, Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh Province, whose family lost an estimated amount of 450 million VND, presented his grateful feeling to the direction board, faculty and staff of Vinh University for promptly supporting them and he promised to make the best efforts to overcome current difficulties and get good learning results.

As a university located in the heart of Vietnam which regularly stands the damages caused by natural catastrophes, Vinh University appealed to its personnel for supporting not only its students but also the people who suffers from natural disasters. In last October and November, Vinh University collected 142,200,000 VND to support 666 students whose families were seriously affected by the flood. This donation can not be compared with the lost caused by flood but it should be a very precious motivation for students.
