Vinh University granted Watanabe-Kanda Scholarship to students on October 6, 2010 at the Exhibition Hall of Vinh University. Mr. Sadanori Watanabe, representative of Watanabe-Kanda Scholarship program, Ms. Vu Thi Kim Nhung, director of Hung Yen Co., Ltd in Hanoi, Mr. Hoang Nhat An, Head of External Economy Division – Nghe An Planning and Investment Department, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Minh Hung, Vice-President – Vinh University, MA. Nguyen Hong Loc, Deputy of Student Affairs Division – Vinh University, teachers and students on this grant participated in scholarship granting ceremony.

This scholarship was founded in 2005 by Mr. Watanabe and Mr. Kanda. Intendedly, this scholarship provides financial support for brilliant students up to 2015. Vinh University was the first institution to be chosen for this scholarship program.

This year, 15 students who live in disadvantaged family conditions and had excellent study results, were granted this scholarship. The funds was up to 60,000,000.00 VND (about 3300 USD). Among granted students up to now, fourteen of them are graduated from university and four ones are doing or finished master course.

Mr. Watanabe was very happy to meet again granted students with cheerful and satisfied expression. The scholarship aims to give financial support to disadvantaged students who successfully overcome difficulties to study well at school. He suggested them to make a long-term plan for their life while resolutely keeping long-life studies and make useful contributions to the society.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the direction of Vinh University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Minh Hung recognized Watanabe-Kanda Scholarship as a great encouragement for students to overcome difficulties and get brilliant results at school as well as in life. The Vice-President reminds students Mr. Watanabe’s words at the ceremony and encouraged them to make more efforts in their studies.
